Opening of a Postdoctoral position for 2 years

A postdoctoral position is to be filled in the group of Prof. Janiak at the Heinrich-Heine-University (HHU) of Duesseldorf, Germany in collaboration with the Hoffmann Institute of Advanced Materials (HIAM) / Shenzhen Polytechnic (SZPT) in Shenzhen, China.

The position is initially for two years with possible renewal contingent on funding availability and based on the performance of the fellow. The site at which the post-doctoral fellow will work is in the group of Prof. Janiak at the "Institute of Inorganic and Structural Chemistry " at the University of Duesseldorf in Germany, but the position is funded and supported by HIAM and Shenzhen Polytechnic (SZPT). The fellow will have a primary affiliation with SZPT. Generous salary and additional support, including support for round trip travel from China to Germany, will be provided. At the moment payment will be in Chinese currency (RMB). The position is available starting July 2018 until it is filled.

The research area that the post-doctoral fellow is expected to work on will include synthesis and characterization of various advanced nanostructured and nanoporous materials (e.g. Metal-organic frameworks, MOFs or covalent triazine frameworks, CNTs) with potential applications in gas and vapor sorption, separation, heat transformation, chemical and photocatalysis or electrocatalysis.

Capabilities in synthesis and characterization of porous materials and knowledge of the necessary instrument setups (e.g. powder X-ray diffractometers, gas sorption analyzers) are welcomed. Knowledge in chemical and photocatalysis or electrocatalysis would be very interesting. Abilities to study porous materials with novel approaches would be an asset.

The post-doctoral fellow must have prior demonstrated track record of accomplishments, through publications of at least three first-authored publications in major peer-reviewed international journals.

HIAM, which is named after the Nobel Laureate, Prof. Roald Hoffmann at Cornell University in USA, is a newly established institute at Shenzhen Polytechnic in Shenzhen, China, that is fostering advanced research spanning a variety of materials and their applications in collaboration with Professor Janiak and several other renowned researchers from around the world. Possible permanent position for the post-doctoral fellow may become available at HIAM later on, depending on the performance of the post-doctoral fellow during his/her postdoctoral research and availability of positions at HIAM.

If interested, please send curriculum vitae (Resume) and the names and e-mail addresses of at least 2 referees to: Prof. Dr. Christoph Janiak, janiak@uni-duesseldorf.de (short: janiak@hhu.de)
